# Chat modes

> Build changes your app. Plan and Discuss let you think it through first without changing anything.


The chat has three modes. Choose one above the message box.

| **Plan** | Writes a short plan for a change | No |
| **Discuss** | Answers questions about your app or your idea | No |

Your live app keeps running while you use Plan or Discuss.

## Turn a plan into changes

The newest plan has a **Build this plan** button. It sends the plan to Build so the AI makes those changes. To adjust the plan first, reply in Plan mode and say what you'd change.

## Usage

Plan and Discuss use your plan's limits the same way Build does. On the Free plan, each message that finishes counts as one of your daily messages. On paid plans, the cost counts toward your usage limits.

## Prompt library

Choose **Prompts** next to the model picker to start from a ready-made prompt. Choosing one fills the message box, so you can edit it before sending.

## Attach files

Choose the paperclip to add up to 3 text files to your message, such as CSV data, a JSON sample, Markdown notes or a code file. Each file can be up to 8,000 characters. The AI reads them along with your message. Images aren't supported yet.
