# Backups and trash

> Restore deleted records from the trash, download earlier copies of your data, or roll a table back to an earlier point.

Open **Dashboard → Backups & trash**.

## Trash

Deleted records go to the trash instead of disappearing, whether they were deleted in your app, by a backend function or in the Data tab. They stay there for **30 days** and are then removed for good.

- **Restore** brings one record back, with the same id and data.
- **Restore all** empties the trash back into your tables.
- The bin icon deletes a record forever.

Records in the trash don't appear in your app, its API or exports.

## Backups

Draftship copies all of your app's data automatically, **at most once an hour while it's changing**. You can also click **Back up now** before a big change. Backups are kept for 30 days.

Open a backup to see each table and its record count, then:

- **CSV** downloads that table exactly as it was.
- **Restore table** puts just that table back the way it was.
- **Restore** puts every table back.

Restoring is safe to try: Draftship takes a fresh backup first (labelled *Before restoring…*), and records added since the backup move to the trash rather than being deleted.

Backups cover your app's data. For its code, use [Version history](/docs/data/version-history).
