# Managing your app data

> View, add, edit, import and export your app's records in the dashboard's Data section.

When your app stores something — orders, messages, tasks — Draftship creates a table for it, called an **entity**. Each entity has a schema (its fields) and [security rules](/docs/security/managing-data-permissions).

## The Data section

Open a project, select **Dashboard → Data**:

- The left column lists every table with its record count.
- The table view shows the latest 500 records, newest first. Click a row to edit it as JSON.
- **Add** creates a record; **Export CSV** downloads every record; **Import CSV** adds records from a file whose first row holds the field names.
- A badge shows whether the table has its own security rules or the defaults.

As the app owner you see and change every record, regardless of security rules. Changes you make here trigger [automations](/docs/logic/automations) just like changes made in the app.

## Built-in fields

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `id` | Unique ID. |
| `created_date` / `updated_date` | ISO timestamps. |
| `created_by` | Email of the signed-in user who created it, or empty for anonymous submissions. |

## Adding or changing tables

Ask in the chat: "save newsletter sign-ups to the database", "add a 'priority' field to tasks". Draftship updates the schema files in `draftship/entities/` and the table updates on the next successful build. Existing records keep their data.

## CSV import details

Numbers, `true`/`false` and empty cells are converted automatically; everything else is stored as text. Up to 500 rows per import.

## Limits

Each table holds up to 5,000 records and each record up to about 200 KB.
